America's Most Haunted Cities!
Hi everyone! Today’s blog involves all things haunted. I wanted to share some of America’s most haunted cities and some of the “must-see” locations in those cities. I have visited a few of these cities before and LOVE them. The rest are on my bucket list … especially Salem, MA!
New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans is considered the most haunted place in the United States. The city is said to be full of ghosts. This includes Priest that still haunts churches, soldiers that still roam hospitals, and homes of ghosts who still reside there today. There are also a ton of vampire stories as well. Voodoo was also a common practice in the city, with some still practicing it. It is a huge part of the New Orleans culture.
Places to see:
- Voodoo Lounge (order the voodoo daiquiri … aka “the purple drink”)
- Bourbon Street
- Cat’s Meow (the coolest bar on Bourbon St. IMO)
- Museum of Death
Savannah, Georgia
Savannah Georgia is known for its historic homes and haunted hotels. The Marshall House in Savannah is considered one of the most hunted hotels in the U.S., it was previously a hospital during the Civil War and the yellow fever epidemics.
Places to see:
St. Augustine, Florida
St. Augustine is the oldest city in the U.S. … so of course, it has plenty of ghosts!
Places to see:
Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston SC is one of my all-time favorite cities ever. The streets, hotels, and homes are filled with ghosts.
Places to see:
- The Old Jail … at night!
- The Gin Joint
- Poogan’s Porch (it’s haunted by a do named Poogan, but they also have amazing food)
- Unitarian Church Cemetery
Salem, Massachusetts
Salem MA is #1 on my bucket list. It is known for the Salem witch trials and parts of Hocus Pocus were filmed there!
Places to see:
- Max and Danni’s house from Hocus Pocus … DUH!
- Salem Witch Museum
- The House of the Seven Gables
- Witch House
- Bewitched Statue of Elizabeth Montgomery
- Salem Witch Village
Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
Gettysburg is where the Civil War’s bloodiest battle took place. This is the main reason behind Gettysburg’s regular paranormal sightings.
Places to see:
- Battlefield and Monuments
- Soldiers National Cemetery
- Gettysburg National Military Park Museum
- Little Round Top & Devils Den
- Jennie Wade House
San Francisco, California
San Francisco has a ton of haunted landmarks but one of the most famous haunted places in San Fran is Alcatraz. There are still ghost hanging around at the infamous prison, and some say that you can still hear one of them still playing banjo music.
Places to see:
- Haskell House and Fort Mason
- Neptune Society Columbarium
- Alcatraz … obviously
- The Full House house (not haunted, but still cool)
